The the /math directory of the IDL Astronomy Library has the procedures
MINF_BRACKET and MINF_PARABOLIC, which, respectively, incorporate the
algorithms in MNBRAK and BRENT from Numerical Recipes. The IDL Astronomy
Library is available at the URL
