1. I found a useful example to integrate/modify Excel spreadsheets
into IDL in the External Development Guide for IDL.,Pages 88 to 92.
You'd find the same program in
C:\RSI\lib\examples\combridge\ActiveXExcel.pro

Not as elegant as directly using the registered COM object but works
ok.
