I can't find this specifically mentioned in the IDL documentation, but I
only want to go down this particular road if it will work the way I
expect. When using IDL RPC, how many licenses eventually get used? I
assume that one license must be used to run the RPC server, but will
additional licenses get used for the clients which connect to the
server? For example, if I had and RPC server running and 5 concurrent
client connections, would I need 6 total licenses (for server and
clients) or only 1 (server only)?
Also, I'm trying to figure out another licensing issue that RSI hasn't
made clear. If I create a new IDL session, I will use one of our
floating licenses. Now, if I start up a second IDL session with the
same username on the same computer, do I chew up another license? When
I talked with RSI last, my contact indicated that another license would
get used. However, when I look at the results from lmstat -a, I only
see one entry for my computer/username no matter how many IDL sessions I
start. So, am I really chewing up extra licenses and lmstat -a doesn't
show all the computer/username duplicates, or am I really just using one
license?
Thanks,
Mike
