Julio,
I recommend CASPR as
cloudmask(http://stratus.ssec.wisc.edu/caspr/caspr.html) we use it for
our opertional products
(http://saturn.unibe.ch/rsbern/noaa/dw/realtime/index.html). Shadow: we
derive it based on the cloud mask of CASPR also using IDL, but the code
is quite a mess, if you wanna have it, I can send it to you. It is
mainly based on "Cloud shadow is estimated according to Simpson, J.J. &
J.R. Stitt (1998): A procedure for the detection and removal of cloud
shadow from AVHRR data over land. IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and
Remote Sensing 36 / 3: 880-897." As mentioned in
OESCH, D., A. HAUSER, and S. WUNDERLE, (2004) Validation of Alpine Lake
Surface Temperature Measurements derived from NOAA-AVHRR and MODIS data,
in 13th Conference on Satellite Meteorology and Oceanography,Norfolk, VA,US.
Cheers
