I was disturbed by the followup to a message I posted the other
day, and I wasn't sure whether to reply or not. The message is from
Alan Stein at MIT/Lincoln Lab. Some excerpts follow:

I don't know Alan, so I can't say what would have prompted this
sort of personal attack on me or Precision Visuals, Inc. I believe
that we provide high-quality software at a competitive price, and that
we have an outstanding engineering group. I'd guess that any of the
staff at RSI would say the same about themselves.
I sincerely hope that my fellow netters (and the sysadmin that controls
Alan's net access) will agree to get the discussions on this newsgroup
back on a more professional level.
