To extract a subimage (partial area) in ENVI, just go to file - Save
File AS - ENVI standard.....and then do a spatial subset. If you click
on the subset by image button you can draw a rectangle on the image
that represents the subimage you'd like to extract.

What do you mean by full resolution? Do you mean have a display that
shows the entire window (since envi's display windows usually only show
you part of it by default)? If thats what you mean, i usually just
resize the scroll window to get the desired effect.
