Btw. we are to familiar. Some time ago I tried to get some answers by an
other group. And I recognized by this how friendly comp.lang.idl-pvwave is.
The people of this group do have talked only like lixiaoyao and it was
forbidden to give any explaination about your request. You should only ask.

If I need some more help from this group I will remeber this piece of code.

cheers
Reimar

I know this,so I delete my message,but unfornately,you copy it and send
it out.
yes,I finished my homework using IDL about the contour question,my
instructor just ask to measure the points by hand in the contour and
draw a rough graph, but I hate to measure it and want to get exactly
data. and I always got the wrong data about the contour line until some
ones pointed out there are three coordinate. This is all. About the FFT,
I like FFT and like the singal processes(this is also the reason why I
study IDL) and I am in the process to study it and it is not my
homework.

I think they just go out and raise another barn, as far
as I know. :-)

So David, what do the Amish do when someone writes an IDL procedure
about them?

We *all* ask questions. Ken was just pointing out to you
in a fun and creative way what I believe several of us who
spend time answering questions are probably feeling. Namely,
you are asking questions before you have done your homework.

You will find, I think, that as a group we have almost
infinite patience for dumb questions. What we don't have
is patience for people who waste our time. Read the manuals
(they are all available in your IDL distribution), learn
to use Google to search for information, read the answers
you are given carefully, and in forming your questions
give us some indication you are doing your homework.
If you do this, your questions will be answered and life
will be good. If you don't, well, then I think people
who answer questions will be less and less motivated to
help.

Ken is being your friend here in giving you some very
good advice. I think if I were you, I might heed it.

Cheers,

David
