FITS I/O is part of the IDL Astronomy User's Library. Once installed from

you can read and write FITS easily.

Did you consider trying google? Here, I'll help you:

Also, an IDL-specific search engine:

But you can even make google IDL-specific by adding "filetype:pro"
to any query:
