please have a look into our liibrary at

idl_lib_libraries.htm

and choose ames_format

This is the complete library from Steve Gaines who has introduced this
format.

We have a wrapper routine around these routines to return the
icg-data-structure. This is routine you find here:

read_ames_dbase.pro.html
