Hi all,

does anybody know how to construct the .odbc.ini file for an Oracle9.2
data base under AIX?

My problems occur when posting the following commands:

IDL> odb=OBJ_NEW('IDLdbDatabase')
% Loaded DLM: DATAMINER.
IDL> print, dialog_dbconnect(odb)
% DIALOG_DBCONNECT: ODBC Unknown ODBC system error.
0

It seems to me that the odbc.ini file has not the appropriate entries.
Is that true? Is there anybody who can help me?

It has been quite a while since I dealt with Dataminer, but as I
recall we would see this when one of the following was true:

- The Oracle server was not accepting connections (from anyone)
- The odbc.ini file was in the wrong place and therefore was not
being read.
- An old odbc.ini in the user's home directory was being read,
instead of the system default (or vice versa)
