The Savitsky-Golay filter is discussed in Num.Rec. (2nd Edit.)
pg. 652. I am considering trying to write it in IDL, but am
wondering if anyone might already have done this.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

You can find a procedure to apply a Savitzky-Golay filter in the Astronomy User's
Library. It is called POLY_SMOOTH and can be found in the Math directory.
