Anybody seen this kind of crash with IDL 4.0?? [message #4474]

We are in contact with RSI about the following problem that makes no
widget application work under our new IDL 4.0 installation. We are
running on Sparcs with SUN OS 4.1.(3,4), but SGIs show the problem also.
I have a feeling it is an installation problem, but we would appreciate
any clue as to what is going on:

IDL> x=pickfile()
% Compiled module: PICKFILE.
% Compiled module: XREGISTERED.
dlopen: stub interception failed
/n/vendor/bin/idl: 1195 Abort - core dumped
