Folks,

After spending another two totally frustrating days trying
to get a zipped project transferred to a colleague so he
can run the same programs I am, I'm giving up and switching
to LINUX and IDLWAVE.

My God! Every time you move a project back and forth
the Build Order changes, which means, basically, that
nothing EVER gets compiled properly. Nothing EVER runs.
And both of you end up thinking the other is a friggin'
idiot!

Then, when we finally convince ourselves that we have the
same code on both machines, the program runs differently
if we start it from the IDL command line or build it as
a project! This was my fault, of course, because I had
zipped the files instead of "exporting" it, then zipping,
and I had an "extra" file with the same name as one of the
actual files in a directory that was built first with the
new build order.... Oh, you don't want to hear it!

Bottom line, we had to put the thing on a Linux machine
and use IDLWAVE to figure out what the hell was going on.
It is not as if JD and company need any more testimonials, but
IDLWAVE is a godsend. Just thought you would want to know. :-)

Cheers,

David
