Under IDL v 2.3.2 and Openwindows 3.0 on my Sparc 4/75 running SunOS 4.1.1,
I get the following error message *sometimes*
IDL> ?
% Compiled module: MAN_PROC.
% Compiled module: MP_WIDGETS.
% Compiled module: XREGISTERED.
OPEN LOOK Toolkit Error in application "imslidl": Can't allocate gray pixel
The error occurs when there are no more colors available in the shared color
map. I avoid the problem by either placing this line in ~/.Xdefaults:
Idl.colors: -16
to keep 16 colors in the color table free or by creating my first window with:
window,colors=-16
The two methods are equivalent.
Does anybody else see this error or know of other ways to avoid it?
Fred
