Does anyone know if IDL will run under Solaris 10 for x86-64?

Thanks!

Sun has actually renamed the Janus project to BrandZ

http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/brandz/

The project appears to be very similar to the linux compatibility
package in FreeBSD. Whilst I generally prefer a native application,
emulation across *NIX systems on the same architecture isn't as bad.
Perhaps I'll give it a try.

Hi Robbie,
we have a license server
running on Solaris 8 (SPARC) and can connect
to it from a Solaris 10 x86 machine using IDL
5.5a for Solaris x86.
All of the IDL functions I normally use in
IDL are okay. As this is an old version of
IDL it isn't supported by RSI.

I've asked if RSI will be support Solaris x86
again and they said they will if there is
enough interest. Why not write to them if
you would like a native version?

Cheers
Andy

[ Solaris 10 Linux binaries... Well, Sun
promised this some time back and then went
back to the drawing board. It isn't out yet
and I've been waiting more than a year for it
(Janus) to arrive. I just don't see this as
a good thing to do personally. An operating
system within (or alongside) your primary
operating system? So you have to install and
support two operating systems? I'll give it
a go if it ever arrives but I like the idea
of a native application every time!]
