"Too many local variables"? [message #4651] Sat, 24 June 1995 00:00

G'day all,
Does anyone know of a way to increase the number of local
variables allowed in IDL (3.5.1)? Running on a DEC alpha, we
seem to top out at about 160. This is independent of the *size*
of the variables (so 165 integers will generate the error). This
can get quite annoying when analysing large datasets for a number
of parameters, where it is far quicker to evaluate a derived
array once, rather than temporarily each time it is required.

Thanks,

David.
