Recently, there was a post to this newsgroup about how give the
input focus to a text widget without using a mouse. I posted a
follow-up that worked on my system (IBM RS6000, AIX 4.1, IDL 4.0),
but, unfortunately, not on the original poster's system. I've
been doing some tinkering, and much to my surprise, I found that
this feature (changing the focus without using a mouse) seems to
be built in! I invoked the .pro file I posted here earlier, and
I was able to cycle around using the tab key, which not only gave
the focus to the next text widget, but also the next button widget!
Once the "Done" button had the focus, I hit the space bar and the
widget was destroyed! Wow! My Friday suddenly improved.

OK, this isn't Earth-shattering stuff, but it's a groovy little
feature I wasn't aware of, and I thought there must be at least one
other person out there who can appreciate the groovitity of it.

Charles

PS. And you can bet I'll be using that once-dormant tab key a little
more often.
