I am in the process of developing an IDL application to display wind barbs for
surface observations (such as Metars and Synops).

I really want a subroutine (e.g draw_wind_barb) that is called like

draw_wind_barb, lon, lat, wind_speed, wind_direction, other_params...

And displays the appropriate wind barb (tail size, rotation) somewhere on a
map.

If anybody has already creating something along these lines I would really like
to hear from you.

Thanks In Advance,
