I looked at the welcome page and the Programming Tips & Tricks page
just now. On both, the fonts do *not* appear small by any standards.
This is Firefox 1.5 and Opera 8.51, both on a prehistoric Windows 98. A
Firefox screenshot is at <http://tinyurl.com/bqud3>. Opera renders the
page almost the same.

OK, I don't even need to use my glasses (goodness!) to
read the darn text now. Any better?

Cheers,

David

P.S. Maybe I shouldn't have paid so much money for these
sharp monitors. :-(

Gentlemen, what browser are we talking about here!?

I've got three browsers going, and I assure you, I do NOT
see small text. :-(

Weird. Too weird.

Cheers,

David

The text on the main page looks fine to me. The primary font on the
other pages does seem to be small, but I can still read it. I agree
with JD that it does seem to be much smaller than other sites. Might I
suggest using relative font sizes in your style sheet?

Instead of something like this,
font-size: 9pt

Use this instead,
font-size: small

That should alleviate the problems due to resolution differences and how
folks have fonts defined in their browsers.

-Mike

P.S. My first post to the IDL newsgroup in a while and it's about CSS.
Heh.

Say what!? What browser is that? My biggest problem up
to now is that the damn fonts are too big! Sigh..

I may have to stick with the day job and get out of web
development altogether. :-(

Cheers,

David

One comment on the new look:

The default font size is very small, bordering on unreadable for me. I do
have a high pixel pitch, but it's much smaller than other sites.

Otherwise, things look great.

Mozilla derivatives under Linux... but you must have changed
something, because it looks much nicer now ;). Absolute font sizes
are a problem, because Windows has its own strange idea of what a
"point" is compared to the rest of the world.

For what it's worth, I was viewing the page in Firefox on at a
resolution of 1280 x 1024 (on an old monitor).

Yes, much better.
