We're looking at IDL for use as an adjunct to the software we provide with
our spectral imaging camera. Does anyone else have experience using IDL
as part of a commercial application?

Our base application, for camera control, spectral image formation,
visualization and analysis is written in C++ using MFC under Win32s.

IDL 4. is supposed to be callable from a Win32 program. Has anyone tried
it?

Thanks for speaking up if you have any advice.

You can distribute a run-time version of IDL (no compilation) with a saved
application. We've done it with data analysis software, and I know there
are commercial applications in the medical imaging industry. You must work
out a licensing arrangement with RSI, but your customers need not purchase
IDL. I suggest you contact RSI with your questions.
