Hi IDL users:
I am desperately in need of help here. I am developing a model in IDL 6.1
because of its good visualization (itools) but I have serious problems with
memory alocation due to large arrays. To see what I meanm I am enclosing my
program (if it can be called a program) for any one to try running.
http://www.chara.gsu.edu/~das/generate_model.pro
just type "f" at the prompt to run default values to see the outcome of the
program. The program is taking ~30 sec to run with default values. However
if one type "r" then type "200" then typer "f", the program struggles.
Basically the "r" means larger arrays. So I need help to minimize the run
time by efficient managing of these large arrays. This work is part of my
dissertation and any help will be gladly acknowledged in the write up
(which is actually in suppose to be in 2 weeks). I will greatly appreciate
if someone could spare me some of their valuable time.
