Thanks! It looks like this is much more complicated then I originally
thought; however, I'm going to dabble in the octa and hexa formatting
codes to see if I can figure them out. Is there a good resource to
follow when using these? Thanks again for the help.

You may want to have a look at the message-thread started by a user
called "Park" on Sun, Feb 5 2006 8:48 am. (Message ID:

The thread yields some answers that may or may not be easier than
the IDL format codes.

If "uncomplicated" is what you are after, I'm afraid
you have chosen the completely wrong topic. :-(

How are your octal math skills?

I'd stick with TexToIDL if you can. Otherwise, you
are just going to have to get your hands dirty (VERY
dirty!) learning the embedded format codes. Good luck!

By the way, users of IDLWAVE should not use the syntax "305B, but '305'OB,
which will make the syntax highlighting much happier, and is also more
consistent with the hexadecimal usage 'C5'XB.
