It is customary in the IDL community to donate all
profit from software sales to the IEPA beer fund.

Cheers,

David

P.S. Let's just say this may be *one* reason this
esteemed group gets together so infrequently.

Of course, but remember send me 10.000 euros :D

PD: Macros are written with BeanShell and are pretty simple. Some
characteristic situations ocurrs when the selected region containes
"commented" and "not commented" lines and you select comment/uncomment all.

Hi Antonio,

Do you mind if I add these to my jedit IDL zip file? Proper credit will
be given :)

Yes, listen to Antonio and try jEdit. It sits very nicely between the
rather anemic IDLDE (especially on *nix) and the can do just about
anything but has quite a steep learning curve IDLWAVE.

It is a mature editor with a large number of very useful plugins. It is
very easy to use but has depth if you care to explore.

I have recently updated the files linked above for the latest version of
IDL.

At an IDL for Medical Users day last year, one of the things shown by
RSI's UK team was some snapshots of 6.3, which included a new
programming editor. I can't remember for sure, but it could well have
been Eclipse, I'm fairly sure it was some sort of generally available
bit of kit with a bit of respect. 6.3 is due to land soonish... back
then (Fall 2005) they were hoping about March, but these things have a
habit of slipping. None of this was "this *WILL* happen, rather it was
the plan then. We weren't sworn to any sort of secrecy about it so
maybe RSI will tell you if asked directly.

Pete.

I've found vi to be nearly the perfect editor. ;-)

Sorry but I have to many children who need to feed. Really I want to
request 10.001 euros but I am a very good person and round the number on
10.000 :)

I think the distance is another problem, most people are from long,
distant and amazing places like: Spain (Barcelona, I am from here),
Australia and, of course, the USA.

If all you come to Barcelona, I commit myself to invite you to take a
beer, a red wine, a "pincho tortilla" and a good "jamon serrano" (I
think the last one will like a lot).

Bye.
