Here's a new one for you.

IDL> badnumber = 2448490.30796509236097335815429687500d0

Results in:

libc base conversion file __x_power.c line 50:
__big_decimal_to_big_binary exponent 5 : Result too large
IOT trap

& IDL completely bombs to the UNIX prompt!

Note this is IDL 3.0.0 running on a Sparc1 using SunOS. The above
line is no problem on a Sparc10 running IDL 3.6.1 under Solaris.

Also the line:

IDL> badnumber = 2448490.3079650923609733581542968d0

Does not bomb! Any ideas?
