It is possible to use dot(.) and field names.
IDL> print, apdata.AP_DATA_INDEX
IDL> print, apdata.L4_AP_300_NM
....
You can access field values with numbers.
IDL> print, apdata.(0)
IDL> print, apdata.(1)
.....
