Hi Maarten,

some years ago I wrote interpolate_n.pro, which works for up to 8
dimensions. It can be found here:

http://wew.met.fu-berlin.de/idl/interpolate_n.pro

The routine just recursively linearly interpolates in all necessary
dimensions. Just give it a try if you like.
