IDL-X Window System problem: setting mouse actions.

I have following problem: In an IDL program (on HP) I use the
SPAWN-command to start a C-program. This C-program uses
X Toolkit Intrinsics. I have tried to set the mouse actions with the
action/translation table procedures or the XtAddEventHandler procedure.
Both ignore/don't execute the wanted actions.
I want to set the actions of my mouse input of my X Window System
program which is started by IDL (both communicate through a pipe
during execution). Does someone have an idea on solving this
problem ???
