Following the recommendation, all I get (with IDL 6.1.1) is

IDL> showfont,'Courier','Courier',/tt
% Compiled module: SHOWFONT.
% XYOUTS: Unsupported glyph table format for TrueType fonts.
% XYOUTS: Unsupported glyph table format for TrueType fonts.
etc.

Something seems to be broken?
