IDL's THIN function, with /PRUNE option [message #49155] Fri, 30 June 2006 08:03

On a note slightly related to my previous post about thinning, it
appear that the /PRUNE option of the THIN function has problems as
well. Pruning is not supposed to change the genus of the structure
being pruned. (Someone, please correct me if I'm mistaken here.)

However this is clearly not the case when using the /PRUNE option of
the THIN function. Below is a link to a screenshot. On the left hand
side is the original image. On the right is the result, showing obvious
changes in genus and/or connectivity.

Any thoughts on this?

Regards,
Tom S.
