ITT Visual Information Solutions is actively continuing to enhance our IDL
image processing support. So, we are collecting some information about
what people need and want most from image processing tools in IDL.
Please e-mail your thoughts on the subject to:
kschultz at ittvis dot com
While this is not intended to be a tedious survey, here are some questions
to stir your thoughts and help organize your response.
- Would you like to see improved support in a particular image processing
discipline, such as astronomy or medical? If so, what specific algorithms
would you like to see in IDL?
- Do you think that IDL should address some area or aspect of image
processing that it does not address today? If so, what are they?
- What do you like or dislike about iImage (iTools)?
- Describe what you do when you sit down to work on an image with IDL.
A step-by-step description is the most useful. Tell us what you would like
to have in the way of image tools to make your work easier.
And, of course, you can mention anything else you'd like to say on the
subject.
While I can't promise we'll implement all your ideas, we do intend to take
your input seriously. We do pay attention to the newsgroup. And we do
have a few things in the next IDL release that are in place primarily due
to the interests expressed here.
