I have been asked to develop a utility in IDL that will _read_ HDF
formatted files. This utility should be extremely generic and not
limited to the few well defined tags that NCSA has distinguished.
Does anybody have such a utility? If so, please contact me. If not
but you have suggestions, contact me as well. The IDL documentation
on this subject is limited (in my view) and does not offer complete
examples to follow.
