Hi,

I don't have any experience with CDF but just yesterday I tried to open
a file with insufficient privileges. The error message indicated either
a corrupt file or format not supported rather than noting anything about
permissions. The file was a JPEG I received over the network.
Interestingly, Mac' Preview and ImageJ gave similar error messages. It
is worth checking.
