We have noticed a performance degredation in a small piece of iterative
code under IDL 4.0 on the PowerMac. We've run the same code on a Sparc 2,
PC Comp (both running 4.0.1) and the PowerMac running version 3.6.1 with no
performance problem.
Each iteration of the code we replace the previous values with the current, so
there should be no increase in memory requirements.
Below I have listed the amount of time between iterations for the 1st few
hundred iterations along with later in this test to demonstrate the problem.
1st 100 - 26 seconds
2nd 100 - 33 seconds
3rd 100 - 37 seconds
4th 100 - 39 seconds
5th 100 - 45 seconds
from iteration 1100 - 1500 - 315 seconds (ave of 79 seconds / 100)
This behaviour does not occur on the PC and Sparc versions of IDL 4.0.1 with
the same code.
Is this just a bug in 4.0 and is it fixed for IDL 4.0.1 for the PowerMac?
