Thanks for this. We are now getting much closer to what
we are looking for, I think. Andrew has been doing some
additional work on his little kludge (which has become
less a kludge and something more helpful) and if I find
a few minutes I thought I might write an article on this
"dark side of IDL" topic.

Although, I have to admit, there are probably only three
people in the world who are anal enough to care about this,
and we are writing notes to each other! Still, if there
was a way to figure all this out, I know I would sleep
better at night. :-)
