This instantly got me delving into semaphores to implement record
locking.
Actually, given that concurrent access is rare, but must be dealt with
properly, I could probably get away with using CVS.

P.S. I've been pondering metrics to measure the decay factor w.r.t.
interest in IDL. Has it stabilised yet? Is there a correction factor
for the increase in life expectancy :-)
