Kludgey idea:

Remove:
/Applications/rsi/idl/bin/bin.darwin.ppc
and create a soft link from
/Applications/rsi/idl/bin/bin.darwin.ppc
to
/Applications/rsi/idl/bin/bin.darwin.i386

There may be reasons this is a bad idea.
