Folks,

With the help of RSI E-mail Support (sic), I finally
resolved a long-standing annoyance. For well over a year
now, every time I click on an IDL *.pro file, without
IDL currently open, it starts up an IDL 6.0 session, instead
of the expected IDL 6.3 session.

I opened a Windows Explorer window, went to the File Types
tab, found the *.pro extension and pointed to the IDL 6.3
version I wanted, but all to no avail. It STILL opened IDL 6.0.

But I noticed that the *.pro extension differed from the *.prj
extension (for an IDL project). If I selected the *.prj extension,
I got an ADVANCED button, and I could delete the extension, if
I wanted to. If I selected the *.pro extension, the ADVANCED
button changed to a RESTORE button and the DELETE button was
grayed out. Say what!?

Like any good experimental programmer, I decided to hit the
RESTORE button. And walla! Problem solved. I don't know what
in the hell I "restored," but whatever it was caused my
Windows machine to know which application I want to open
when I click a *.pro file. Hooray!

Cheers,

David
