Hi,

I want to print a character from the *postscript* symbol font with
octal code larger than 126.

Naively, one would think that

!p.font=0
string='!M\164'

would do the trick, but IDL does no tecognize \164 as the octal
sequence for the character; I just get a backslash and 164. I have
tried using apostrophe and what not, and nothing works. What is the
scoop? Note: I send the output to the printer (after using
set_plot,'PS') so it has nothing to do with terminal representation.

Thanks in advance,

Pedro
