I'm running Fedora 7 now. The distribution doesn't include an old
libX11. Many FC6 binaries work on F7 since the toolchain is
basically unchanged, so I forced the install of the FC6 libX11.
This worked until the first upgrade, at which point the package manager
just deleted everything that depends on X11.

I installed the IDL 6.4 demo but it causes a hard crash when I try to use
graphics. I'm rebuilding gdl now.
