OK, back from the hike, and I have GOOD NEWS! The
wonderful folks at ITTVIS have offered to provide
valuable prizes for our mystery visitor, IF we can identify
him or her. So, the lucky winner (an astronomer at the University
of Glasgow, to judge from the URL) will get the following
prizes:

1. A free copy of IDL Programming Techniques
2. An IDL coffee carafe
3. An IDL jump drive (of undetermined capacity)
4. An IDL T-shirt signed by the entire IDL team (please
mention your size when you report your identity)
5. Three hours of free IDL consulting via e-mail.

So, who are you? Do any of you astronomy types know
of a colleague at Glasgow University who might qualify?
We can even do this anonymously if accepting prizes from
commercial companies will compromise your integrity with
your colleagues or if you prefer not to have your picture
splashed all over web-dom. :-)

Let me know.

Cheers,

David

Folks,

Yikes! I forgot I was going on a hike early this morning,
so no time to REALLY report, but the 1 millionth visitor
is from Glasgow, Scotland:

janus.astro.gla.ac.uk

Reading the page "ascii_column_data.html."

I'll perform my Master's of Ceremonies duties when
I get back. My wife is already scowling at me. :-(

Cheers,

David

Well, uh, that's a bit of a problem, actually. :-(

Coyote's working on a solution that involves identifying
a sequence of letters and numbers pasted in front of
some scantily clad women. I'll have to check with him
to see how that is coming.

Otherwise, I may have to identify the country and let
people identify themselves by telling me what page
they were visiting around about that time, I guess.

When people find out what the big prize is, I'm not sure
there is going to be a huge clamor to be declared the
winner. :-(

But, as I say, we are working on that.

Cheers,

David

P.S. My real fear is that the winner is going to be one of
the 200 or so people a day who download my Oktoberfest page
to ogle the google-searched pretty girl:

How will you know who it is? You're not spying on us, are you
David? ;-)

Hooray! A woman!? Coyote will be excited. He ordered
an extra small T-shirt!

Cheers,

David

P.S. I'll see what I can do about sorting all of this
out. Thanks for your help! :-)

Alas, no takers on my one millionth visitor contest. :-(

Guess I'll keep the prizes for the two millionth user.
Shouldn't have to wait too long. Today was a new one-day
record, with over 3200 page loads! (Thanks to a Chinese
user who downloaded pretty much everything. Hope he is
planning to translate the pages and send me a royalty
check every month!)

Cheers,

David
