Hi,

I want to do the following, may be you can give me a hint where to
look, what command to look up.

I have two images from x-ray imagery both showing the same soil
sample. The two images are photographed at different wavelengths.
Iron, however has a strong siganture. Now I can see similar iron
patterns on the images.
Because of the different wavelengths, the images differ a bit.
Now the problem: The images do not show the same part of the sample,
but the overlaying is quite high. AND: may be the images are
distorted, one to another.

I thought about doing the following: put one of the images in the
back, the other before it, than I subtract the fore from the back.
Than I collect the sum of squares.
Then, I would like to move the fore image one pixel to the right and
do the same again, after that I go one row down and so on.
So I hope to find the best overlying position...
If the whole thing is distorted, the error function would have two
peaks...

How to move one image before another?

Thanks in advance
Thomas
