I've written up a specification for remote object and pointer storage.
This is for circumstances when you want to store objects and pointers
in a central location. Please feel free to comment,

I have a vague implementation of the specification which does not have
a database back-end. It really depends upon the deployment environment
as to whether to use ODBC, JDBC, sockets or just plain sav files. I'm
leaning towards using sockets because I cannot use JDBC or ODBC in my
situation. Either that or write a DLM to interface to a database
client written in C.
