The AXIS command no longer allows the use of the THICK keyword under IDL
version 2.4.0. The thicknesses are now controlled by the !X(yz).THICK system
variable. Why was this regressive "feature" introduced into Version 2.4.0?
Well I guess I'll have to edit all those programs so that they save the
current values of x, y, and z -.thick, set them temporarily to a different
value, call AXIS, and finally restore the original values 8-( .

On a positive note, I'm very pleased that V-2.4.0 allows the formatting of
axis tickmark labels to be under program control.
