In Linux/Unix, we can type TAB to auto complete a filename.
Sometimes I want to compile a file which has a long filename under IDL
prompt, and I wonder if there is a way to enable that Linux feature?

Whenever I type TAB under IDL>, all I get is " "(plenty
spaces).
