Reading Excel written .dll files into IDL [message #56082]

I was given a .dll file written for use with Excel spreadsheets. At
this point, a colleague said she just exports IDL-read data into an
Excel spreadsheet, performs the necessary algorithims (hidden in
the .dll file) and then exports the information back into IDL. This
seems a cumbersome way of doing things. I found .pro files for reading/
writing excel spreadsheets. Instead of calling Excel from IDL, I was
wondering if anyone might know a way for IDL to carryout the
procedures within the .dll file itself so I don't have to go back and
forth. Thank you!
