A routine that does this is ( was? ) distributed with IDL. Try and get hold of
of the demo distribution. Its worth it for the user library.
I thought a similar routine came with pv-wave.. Have you had a GOOD look through
the user library??

Essentially you are right. Drqaw the thing with XOR.
