It may be that your video card needs driver updates or some additional
configuration. You can switch IDL and ENVIZoom into software
rendering mode which might cause drawing to be slower, but probably
will allow ENVI Zoom to run.
Launch the IDLDE
Go to File->Preferences
Select the Graphics tab
Select Software Rendering
You can also set software rendering by using an environment variable
of I think
IDL_GR_X_RENDERER set to 1
