IDL v PV-Wave ? [message #56615]

I have a customer who has a number of PV-Wave scripts for processing
output. While the scripts are lengthy, they appear to be rather
simple in terms of output requirements (e.g. simple log-log plots or
wind rose plots).

We are moving all our projects over to Macs from the Sun (and PCs)
machines and we need to port the PV-Wave scripts also. While the
other products ported seamlessly, the rub is that PV-Wave is not
supported under OS X.

> From what I recall, IDL and PV-Wave are very similar and I'm hoping
that the simple things I want to do are possible under IDL under OS
X.

Has anyone else tried to 'port' PV-Wave scripts to IDL? I'd like to
know what I'm getting into before I invest too much time in IDL.
