Folks,
I'm sorry you have to struggle with the ol' man here,
but I'm *trying* to get myself up-to-date. :-(
OK, I have a fresh, new LINUX installation, and a fresh
new IDL 7.0 installation. I can do whatever I want to do
with files. I have four libraries I want to install and
originally I put them in my home directory in the following
directories: coyote, astro, jhuapl, and markwardt.
No problem creating new projects in the IDL Workbench
for these four directories.
But, after doing this, I think, "Humm, my home directory
is going to get a little crowded if I keep this up."
So, I decide to delete all these projects in the Workbench,
move those four directories into the IDLWorkspace directory
and try again to add them to my Workbench.
No dice. On Vince's advice, I find and delete the .project
file in each directory before I try to add it to the
Workbench. Still no dice.
OK, so I make an IDL directory in my home directory and
move the four directories over there. Now I can successfully
add them my Workbench. Great.
But now they are cluttering up my little window in my
Workbench and I would like to group them together under
a project called "Libraries". I make a project called
"Libraries" that points to the IDL directory holding
the four directories. Fine. But now I try to drag my
other libraries into this one, and a get a "problems
moving selected resource" error.
I'm stymied, and I'm scared to death to actually move
client files because I'm not at all sure what the
hell I am doing here and I get the feeling I don't
want to make a mistake. I've become my wife! Can someone
please help me sort this out?
I'm not to the point where I'm ready to delete
every damn thing and re-install IDL 6.4, but the
thought has crossed my mind. :-(
