Do what Captain James T. Kirk did in the Kobayashi Maru test- Cheat!

Write your own procedure with the same name as the Black Box code, and
place it right up front in
your IDL Path. That way you change the figure and you haven't changed
their Black box - you're just not
using it... ;-))

How are you planning to "modify" the figure, if you
can't change the code that produces it?

You might try something like this. If the program that
produces the figure is written in a lousy enough way,
it might work:

!P.Background = FSC_Color('white')
!P.Color = FSC_Color('black')
!P.POSITION = Aspect(1.0)

You can find aspect.pro and fsc_color.pro on my
web page in the Coyote Library section.
